The UML/SysML Profile for P&IDs: System Modeling Support for Process Engineering
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) are a common way to model systems in process engineering. However, currently very few modeling tools support this kind of diagrams by a dedicated modeling language. Thus, these diagrams are mostly considered as drawings.
In our recent efforts, we are developing dedicated profiles for UML and SysML to explicitly represent these diagrams as models but we also put a strong focus on the graphical representations of the modeling elements and the resulting diagrams.
